Archbishop's Prayers For Claudia Lawrence
Thursday 26 March 2009
The Archbishop of York has today spoken of his prayers for the safe return of Claudia Lawrence.
Claudia Lawrence
Dr. Sentamu, who has returned from a four day retreat, today spoke to Claudia's father, Peter Lawrence who asked that the Archbishop pray for Claudia's safety.
"We will be lighting a candle of hope for Claudia in the chapel at Bishopthorpe where prayers will be said on the hour for Claudia and her family" said Dr. Sentamu. "When I asked Peter Lawrence if there was anything I could do for him, his answer was simple: 'Pray'.
"Prayers for Claudia's safety, for those leading the investigation into her disappearance and for her to be reunited with her family will take place at Bishopthorpe Chapel hourly, prayers that will be joined by those being offered by people throughout Yorkshire and beyond who are sharing a collective hope that Claudia has not come to harm."
The Archbishop also urged that anyone with information, no matter how trivial, relating to the case should contact the police. Dr. Sentamu also added that anyone who had information but who felt for whatever reason they could not speak to the police could call him at Bishopthorpe Palace on 01904 772361.
